Tom Petty - Highway Companion (Vinyl 2LP)

Cut from the Original Analog Tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Studios

Originally issued in 2006, Highway Companion marked rock icon Tom Petty's third solo outing and first in a dozen years. Long celebrated as a major American voice, Petty has used his solo work as a vehicle for his most personal songwriting and Highway Companion takes the striking intimacy of his earlier solo efforts to even greater heights.

Produced by longtime collaborator Jeff Lynne (ELO, The Traveling Wilburys) who also helmed Petty's beloved 1989 multi-platinum solo album, Full Moon Fever and the Heartbreakers' 1991 album Into the Great Wide Open, the spare, lyrically introspective 12-track effort is a timeless album about the passing of time propelled by hit single "Saving Grace" and the Grammy Award-nominated track "Square One."

Petty's musical integrity and craft, not to mention his seemingly effortless flair for rapturous hooks, have remained constant despite ever-shifting musical trends, and his multi-generational fan base continues to swell. In the words of Rolling Stone's Alan Light, "The man's consistency is pretty astounding."
